Founded in 2007, Eliis an international software provider in seismic interpretation for the oil and gas industry. Its office is located in Montpellier (France).
Through its experience in seismic imaging, geosciences and computer skills, Eliis has developed PaleoScan™, a new generation of software, which optimizes drastically the seismic interpretation process.
PaleoScan™ has already been used on various areas worldwide and has shown successful results used in the E&P decisions. Thanks to a new approach based on a global minimization method, PaleoScan™ aims to compute geological time model directly from the seismic information. This technology improves the quality of the interpretation and reduces drastically time cycle, compared to classical techniques. This changes the way to look at seismic data and takes interpretation a step further in the exploration and production process.
Our mission is to bring adapted and efficient solutions to help geoscientists in the seismic interpretation task and reduce the risk in the decision-making process.

Working with Universities is an essantiel goal for Eliis as we have important R&D skills. PaleoScan™ is used in prestigious Universities all over the world. We think training students to our software particpates in reducing risks for the future Oil and Gas exploration cycle.

- What exactly did you like most about PaleoScan™ ?
What I really liked about PaleoScan was that after a basic training of a morning, you intuitively knew how to use the program. The interface of PaleoScan has been developed with user friendliness in the back of the mind, which pays out immediately as it's a pleasure to work with it. The possibility to create horizonstacks and be able to scan through rapidly your seismic package while following the seismic stratigraphy really helps to recognize subtle depositional/structural features that in conventional horizon screening wouldn't come up that nicely and would be much more time consuming. A very strong point of PaleoScan is that all the windows are interlinked, so that you always know where in the seismic data you are, in the stratigraphy through well logs and where in the horizonstack. There are many more features I could highlight, but I appreciate the lightweight environment of the software the most.
- How does it optimize your results and workflows?
It reduces time-cycles dramatically. PaleoScan is a very powerful screening tool, to quickly have an overview of what can be found in the seismic data. With that initial screening you can go back to your interpretations and adjust the geomodel accordingly . This iterative step is very quick and convenient and provides with more solid than most geomodels of the seismic stratigraphic packages. The horizonstacks helped us to delineate seismic geomorphological features, investigate them and extract them as geobodies in little time.
- Why are you recommending PaleoScan™?
The user friendliness of the software and it's the lightweight environment are very inviting to new users, and therefore it doesn't take weeks to learn the program, more like a day. But most of all the reduced time-cycles when scanning seismic packages with the horizonstacks is a big step forward.

Software Developer – Software Engineering
ABOUT THE ROLE
Your role at Eliis as a software developer will consist of working on PaleoScan™. This includes developing new features, maintaining existing features and refactoring the code to improve the maintainability, performance and reliability of PaleoScan™. In particular your tasks will be to improve the overall architecture of PaleoScan™, to optimise it’s performance, to detect and resolve errors in the code. You will work in our team of programmers to improve PaleoScan™ together and you will interact with clients in order to aid them in their workflow.
Your role will demand a strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, an appreciation for UI and UX design, and a rigorous attention to detail.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Graduating from a school of engineering or Masters degree equivalent
- Object oriented programming (C++/Qt/Python/C#)
- Software engineering (unit tests, validation, optimisation, parallelisation)
- A good team-player as well as a self-starter.
- Strong understanding of both oral and written English.
